If God Opens Your Inner Eyes, You May Be Shocked — Psalm 91:16

There are things happening around us that we may never see with our physical eyes. There are battles we may never know about, prayers spoken for us, dangers we may never recognize, and situations from which God may quietly deliver us.

Sometimes we wonder how we escaped a particular situation or why a certain door closed when we desperately wanted it to open. Later, we may realize that what we thought was a disappointment was actually God's protection.

This is why the message of Psalm 91 is so powerful. It reminds us that God is our refuge, our protector, and our safe place. We may not know everything happening around us, but God sees everything.

What If God Opened Your Inner Eyes?

Imagine for a moment that God allowed you to see every hidden intention, every secret conversation, every unseen battle, and every danger that He has protected you from.

You might be shocked.

You might discover that some people you trusted did not always have good intentions toward you. You might also discover something even more important: God has been protecting you more than you realized.

However, this is not a reason to become suspicious of everyone around you. Not every difficult relationship is an enemy, and not every disagreement is a secret attack. As believers, we should combine prayer with wisdom, discernment, forgiveness, and love.

Instead of spending our lives trying to discover who is against us, we should spend more time knowing the God who is for us.

Psalm 91:16 — A Promise of Long Life and Salvation

“I will reward them with long life and I will save them.”

This powerful promise reminds us that our lives are ultimately in God's hands. People may have opinions about us, circumstances may change, and life may bring unexpected challenges, but God remains our refuge.

When you place your trust in God, you don't have to live every day in fear of what somebody may be planning against you.

God sees what you cannot see.
God knows what you do not know.
God can protect you from dangers you never knew existed.

Some Battles Are Invisible

Not every battle in life is physical. Sometimes the greatest battles involve discouragement, fear, confusion, disappointment, rejection, temptation, anxiety, and opposition.

There are moments when you may feel as though everything is working against you. But remember that your present situation is not necessarily the end of your story.

God can make a way where there seems to be no way. He can turn a difficult season into a testimony and use situations that were meant to discourage you to strengthen your faith.

Don't Live in Fear of Hidden Enemies

Messages about hidden enemies can easily make people afraid of their family, relatives, friends, neighbours, or colleagues. But that is not the purpose of trusting in God's protection.

You don't need to wake up every morning wondering who hates you. You don't need to accuse people without evidence. You don't need to cut everyone off because you are afraid of what they might be thinking.

Instead, pray for wisdom.

Ask God to give you discernment to recognize unhealthy situations, wisdom to make good decisions, and grace to forgive people who have hurt you.

Let God reveal what you need to know at the right time.

God Can Save You From What You Cannot See

One of the most comforting parts of Psalm 91 is the assurance that God is able to deliver His people. There may be situations you never know about because God prevented them from reaching you.

Think about the doors that closed unexpectedly.

Think about the journeys you cancelled.

Think about the relationships that ended.

Think about the opportunities that disappeared.

Some things that looked like losses may eventually prove to have been protection.

Long Life Is a Blessing

Psalm 91:16 speaks about being rewarded with long life and being saved. Long life is more than simply counting years. It is an opportunity to fulfill purpose, serve God, love your family, impact others, and leave a meaningful legacy.

There are people who have been through difficult seasons but are still here today. They can look back and say, “Only God could have brought me this far.”

If you are still standing after everything you have faced, don't take your life for granted.

There is still purpose ahead of you.

A Prayer for Divine Protection and Long Life

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being my refuge, my strength, and my protector. I may not know everything happening around me, but I trust that You see everything.

Protect me from every danger that I cannot see. Give me wisdom to recognize what is good and what is not good for my life. Give me discernment without making my heart fearful or suspicious.

Wherever I go, guide my steps. Wherever I sleep, watch over me. Wherever I travel, preserve my life. Keep me from evil and deliver me from situations that could destroy my purpose.

According to Psalm 91:16, I declare: “I will reward them with long life and I will save them.”

Lord, preserve my life, strengthen my faith, and help me fulfill the purpose for which You created me.

In Jesus' name, Amen. 🙏🏽

But you can trust Him.
